05 Oct1960’s Empire Baby Camera

My dad bought this new, back in the 60’s but never used it. Still has original box, instructions and film. Its as light as a feather, kind of a junk camera, but i still love it. Its says UK on the front but was actually made in Hong Kong. Does anybody else own one of these baby’s, and how do the photos turn out?

03 OctTretchikoff 1950’s Balinese Lady

Tretchikoff’s paintings are so beautiful. He captures something special is all his paintings. This one is called Balinese Lady, and was created in the 1950’s. This is an original print that I found at a bric-a-brac shop. I just adore 50’s and 60’s prints. I really want to get my hands on some prints by J.H. Lynch, they are so cool. I have some more prints that I bought at the same place and will photograph them soon and post the pictures.

03 OctVintage Glomesh And Beaded Bags

I have a bit of an obsession with Glomesh bags (along with pretty much any vintage bag). I just love the feel of Glomesh and the way it shimmers in the light. I have been collecting them from op shops for a while. I am always excited when I come across one in good condition, as most that  I see seem to have worn off paint. I’m always on the search for bags with silver metal instead of gold but they are hard to find. I also like vintage beaded bags, they are so glamorous. I love knowing that when I go out with one no body else is going to have anything the same. Here is a few bags that I have. Vintage Glomesh

02 OctRetro Kitchenware

This is a bunch of stuff I have collected, ranging from 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s. I love retro kitchenware, especially plastic bakelite canisters.  Its amazing that all these things are still around. Plastic kitchenware that is available in shops now doesn’t last very long at all. I guess It goes to show that things were made to a much higher standard of quality way back then. I will post some individual photos when I have more time.

02 Oct1950’s Figural Egg Cups

These figural egg cups were my dads when he was a boy. They are made from Bakelite. They are very fragile so its a wonder they haven’t been broken over the years. Does anybody else collect egg cups?

02 OctAustralian Collectable Salt And Pepper Shakers

These salt and pepper shakers are from the 1960’s. They have an aborigninal and kangaroo images. The blue and yellow colours remind me of a sunset over water. The little bowl has a picture of a native Australia  Xanthorrhoea. The most common name for this plant is “Blackboy”. This name refers to the purported similarity in appearance of the tree to an Aboriginal boy holding an upright spear. This nickmame is now considered to be offensive, so people now call them Grasstree. This is a sovenier from Western Australia.

02 Oct1960s Coca Cola Paper Cups and Bottle

These are some cool 1960s Coca Cola waxed paper cups I have. They have the famous diamond coke logo. They were used at cinemas and places like that. I’m not sure when the glass bottle was made, does anybody else? It would of been unreal to drink coke out of, as it is really heavy and small. I think the smaller the bottle the better the coke tastes. Coca-Cola was the first soft drink to enter outer space. I wonder what it tasted like up there?

02 OctVintage Avon Containers

Here are some vintage Avon containers. I got the owl yesterday at a second hand shop, he used to hold  Moonwind Cream Sachet. Although he is empty now, the smell of the product is still strong if the lid is open. The owl is from the early 1970’s, I think. Isn’t  he adorable! I noticed when I got him home that he has a couple of chips, but that’s ok I don’t mind. Just goes to show he has been around for a while.

The original sticker is still on the bottom of the owl jar, but the people at the thrift store scribbled the price in permanent marker over it so you can hardly read it. A bit annoying.

The container on the left is  from 1969 and originally held Beauty Dust. The other container also held Beauty Dust also but was from 1966. The intricate gold detail on the top of the lids is so pretty. I really want to get some more Beauty Dust containers.

23 SepVintage Apron Collection

Here some aprons I have collected from thrift shops and the like. Its the groovy  patterns and colours that suck me in every time. I don’t know why I like collecting vintage aprons, but it might have something to do with the story behind each one.

I have a some full aprons and some that are just worn around the waist. Its amazing the amount of detail that has gone into making them. I would never use them because they seem to beautiful to get dirty! Who else out there collects aprons? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear from other collectors, and see you photos!
